Robust Detail E-FC-16

Robust Detail E-FC-16 is a fixed, resilient surface layer acoustic insulation system for precast plank floors. E-FC-16 provides 3 Code for Sustainable Homes Credits upon registration.   The system consists of 3mm thick Isorubber CC3 adhered to the screeded surface of a Precast Plank floor using Isobond Adhesive and a Metal Frame ceiling supported on Isosonic Ceiling Cleats making it perfect for Sound Proofing and Noise Reduction applications.

System Summary

Robust Detail E-FC-16 is an acoustic solution for precast plank floors. This system provides a minimum 5dB improvement the requirements of Approved Document Part E. When registered with Robust Details Ltd the requirement for on-site sound testing is removed and 3 Code for Sustainable Homes / BREEAM / Home Quality Mark credits are automatically awarded.

Benefits

  • Exceeds Building Regulation requirements by minimum of 5dB.
  • No need for sound testing if registered with Robust Details Ltd.
  • Provides 3 CSH/BREEAM/HQM credits upon registration.
  • System uses Isorubber CC3, a hard-wearing acoustic covering to reduce noise transfer.
  • Isorubber CC3 is only 3mm thick, minimising construction depths.
  • No long term / short term deformation of acoustic layer.
  • Suitable for use with Under Floor Heating

Acoustic Performance

As a Robust Detail that provides 3 Code for Sustainable Homes Credits the E-FC-16 system must always achieve individual site test values of:

Airborne Sound – not less than 50db (Dntw + Ctr)

Impact Sound – not greater than 57db(Lntw)

Isorubber CC3

Density  610Kg/m3
Roll Size  3mm x 1m x 20m
Roll Weight  42Kg (11 Rolls per pallet)
Isorubber CC3 is a 3mm thick acoustic insulation that is adhered to a floor surface, absorbing impact sound at source. A durable acoustic underlay with a density of approximately 600Kg/m3, Isorubber CC3 has excellent impact energy absorption properties.

About System

The E-FC-16 system is the latest in Thermal Economics’ formidable Robust Detail portfolio and is the third to be awarded 3 Code for Sustainable Homes Credit status. It is designed to be easy to install, helping to reduce the risk of workmanship errors. Isorubber CC3 provides a compatible base for almost all types of floor covering including carpets, vinyl, stone, ceramics, solid wood and laminates. It also provides massive cost savings over more traditional floating floor systems.

The E-FC-16 system consists of 3mm Isorubber CC3 fitted over a minimum 65mm sand & cement screed. The structural floor must be a minimum 150mm precast plank with a minimum mass of 300Kg/m2 per unit area. This system can be used with all masonry external flanking wall constructions (600 – 800Kg/m3, 1350 – 1600Kg/m3 & 1850 – 2300Kg/m3). A metal frame ceiling supported by Isosonic Cleats with a minimum void of 100mm, under drawn with a layer of gypsum based board (minimum 9.8Kg/m2) is also required. During the extensive site testing carried out for Robust Detail classification all 30 of the impact and airborne tests had to achieve a minimum 5dB improvement over regulation requirements to gain this status. Due to this excellent performance record any site that registers the E-FC-16 system with Robust Details is automatically awarded 3 Code for Sustainable Homes Credits.

The E-FC-16 system can also be used in non Robust Detail specifications, subject to pre-completion testing.
