Every project is unique to the environment of the build e.g. the number of different styles of houses on one project and the different permissions/plans required. Delays can be caused by the chance of uncertain conditions, missing design information and resource challenges – each build is never straight forward. The last thing a project needs is a delay in products being delivered or finding out suitability of the products are wrong at the point of build; the smooth management of the construction supply chain is vital.
At Thermal Economics, we recognise that the supply of products within the time parameters is of vital importance and that we must be the support arm to any of our customers – from concept to completion, not a hindrance to the build or add to delays that will impact the overall completion date.
Excluding returning customers, there are three key queries that we are often contacted about:
- Lack of stock of a certain product they are familiar in working with
- Researching what new products that are available in the market and potential costs savings
- The customer is struggling with an existing relationships/services and want to see who else is out there.
Lack of availability of existing products
As well as stock availability challenges during peak times of building in the UK, if a larger builder has a number of projects on that require a significant amount of stock, it can impact the availability of that product for the rest of the market. Smaller builders don’t often have the luxury of buying in bulk and storing materials, so this type of problem can readily affect them.
At Thermal Economics, our technical and sales teams are all well versed in both thermal and insulation solutions for the construction market. As well as tightly managing our stock to be able to supply our customers and meet demands, we are fully aware of the insulation products available in the market, so are able to suggest great accessible options for your build if you are struggling to find the right stock or even suggest a different system that will work equally well using products that can be sourced easily.
Alternative & new insulation products
Suppliers to the market are always looking for new ways to enhance existing products, meet new demands or replace defunct products. It is always worth keeping an eye on what is new out there and finding out what suppliers have in the pipeline. Situations may arise that require a builder to rethink the build and find quick alternatives.
A great example of this is Graphite Enhanced EPS. Whilst not as well known, is a great thermal alternative to PIR. It is durable, has a low environmental impact during production, is an excellent material for wall insulation applications and a very cost effective option.
New insulation supplier
For any business, at some point, a supplier might stop meeting its needs for such reasons as time delay on orders, products no longer meet the building requirements, installation challenges, customer service falling or pricing no longer meets project demands.
At Thermal Economics, customer service and meeting the needs of our customers is vital to us and we will continue to help all our customers reach their end goal, in the time frames and budgets needed. That is why we have our dedicated technical services team. The team has worked in the market for a long time and has substantial knowledge of products and the building process to be able to help customers plan their build, supply the best products and even help in an emergency. It’s all part of the service!
