HISTORY

Over the past 35 years our range of innovative and economic products has seen us become market leaders in the thermal and acoustic insulation fields. We have produced more than 1 billion square meters of product, we hold more proprietary Robust Details than anyone else and we supply the biggest house builders in the UK with thermal and acoustic insulation.

2015 – Thermal Economics win the Barratt Developments PLC Supplier Excellence Award for Product Innovation.

2013 – Robust Detail E-FC-16 is released, which includes a new product Isorubber CC3, it is the first soft covering Robust Detail to provide 3 Code for Sustainable Homes credits on a pre-cast plank floor.

2012 – Thermal Economics celebrates their 30th anniversary and release Robust Detail E-FC-14, the first under screed construction to provide 3 Code for Sustainable Homes credits.

2010 – Alreflex Platinum and Alreflex Ultratherm become the first rigid board insulations to gain BBA certification as both a cavity rainwater barrier and cavity wall insulation.

2008 – Our sister company Environment Economics Ltd is founded as an independent consultancy providing energy related services such as SAP, Code for Sustainable Homes and planning reports.

2008 – Robust Detail E-FC-10, which includes Isorubber Top, becomes the first Robust Detail to provide 3 Code for Sustainable Homes credits.

2004 – Robust Details are accepted as an alternative to the pre-completion acoustic testing required under Approved Document Part E of the building regulations. Thermal Economics gain Robust Details candidate status for the construction that would later become Robust Detail E-FC-4, the most used separating floor Robust Detail to date.

1993 – Alreflex 1L1 and 2L2 become the first insulation products ever to gain BBA certification as both a cavity rainwater barrier and cavity wall insulation.

1992 – The release of the Approved Document Part E regulations in 1992 sees the introduction of a new acoustic product range.

1982 – Thermal Economics Ltd is founded by two engineers with a background in the construction industry specializing in low emissive foil insulations.
