Davies Homes have been long-term users of 165mm TE Platinum Ground Floor Insulation boards in their projects across the South of Wales, but the more onerous requirements of Part L 2021 meant that their standard design needed to be reviewed to ensure compliance.
Meeting Part L 2021 with TE Platinum Ground Floor Insulation
Gareth Cole, our National Thermal Sales Manager, and John Hefford, our Technical Manager for Consultancy Services, have worked with Davies Homes to find an economic solution for the development of 77 new executive homes at Glan Llyn, New Tredegar that met the current fabric energy efficiency requirements and achieved SAP compliance.
This was achieved by increasing the thickness of the TE Platinum Ground Floor Insulation board to 200mm in combination with the use of a 25mm perimeter strip, improving the floor U-values and the thermal bridging performance at the E5 perimeter junction.
U-Value and Psi Value Assessments
As part of the service provided to Davies Homes, John also carried out the U-value and Psi Value assessments for the new floor detail, ensuring that there were no unwanted surprises when the SAP calculations were undertaken.
